Dr. Daniel Quintana
University of Oslo
Dr. Daniel Quintana is a Senior Researcher at the University of Oslo and Oslo University Hospital investigating biological systems that link psychosocial factors to health, with a focus on neuroendocrine systems. His laboratory uses various research approaches, including randomised controlled trials, large-scale genetics studies, neuroimaging, and the collection of autonomic nervous system data. His other research interest is meta-science, which is the evaluation and improvement of research methods.
Dr. Quintana’s primary research focus is improving our understanding of the oxytocin signalling system and its role in health and wellbeing by investigating neurobiological mechanisms, improving methodology used in oxytocin research, and developing theory. He is the principal investigator for several oxytocin projects, which are funded by the Research Council of Norway, Kavli Trust, and the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority. He has received several awards in recognition of his research, including the 2021 Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters Award for Young Researchers, the 2022 University of Oslo Prize for Young Researchers, and the Rafaelsen Young Investigator’s Award. He is also on the Editorial Board of Advances in Methods and Practices in Psychological Science and BMC Psychology.
Dr. Quintana actively uses Twitter for research communication (@dsquintana) and is the producer and co-host of 'Everything Hertz', which is a podcast on research methodology and scientific life in the biobehavioral sciences. He is also a co-founder of the Norwegian Reproducibility Network, which promotes and enables transparent research practices in Norway.
